Understanding Your Out-of-Pocket Cost (OOP)

Learn how your out-of-pocket cost is calculated and how price changes or coupons can affect your reimbursement

Updated yesterday

What Is the Out-of-Pocket (OOP) Cost?

Your out-of-pocket (OOP) cost is the portion of the order that is not reimbursed.

When you complete a deal, you pay for the item upfront, and we reimburse you based on the cash-back percentage available at the time you start your claim.

How Reimbursement Is Calculated

Your reimbursement is based on:

  • The final price you pay for the item at checkout

  • The cash-back percentage locked in when you start the claim

Taxes, shipping, and other fees are not included in the reimbursement, unless explicitly stated in the Special Notes of the deal.

How Price or Coupon Changes Affect Your Cost

If the price or coupon changes before you place your order:

  • Your final checkout price may be different

  • Your reimbursement amount will adjust accordingly

  • Your out-of-pocket cost may increase or decrease

If everything matches but the price is still different, you can:

  • Contact support before placing your order, or

  • Proceed with your order and report the discrepancy via live chat for review

How Coupons Impact Reimbursement

If you apply a coupon, your reimbursement is based on the discounted price you actually paid.

  • Using a coupon β†’ reimbursement is based on the lower price

  • Not using a coupon β†’ reimbursement is based on the full price

Examples

100% Cash-back Deal

  • Item price: $9.99

  • Coupon applied: $2

  • Final price paid: $7.99

    • Reimbursement: $7.99

    • Reimbursement if no coupon is applied: $9.99

90% Cash-back Deal

  • Item price: $10

  • Final price paid: $10

    • Reimbursement $9

    • Out-of-pocket cost: $1

90% Cash-Back with Coupon

  • Item price: $10

  • Coupon applied: $2

  • Final price paid: $8

    • Reimbursement: $7.20

    • Out-of-pocket cost: $0.80

Important Notes

Your reimbursement always reflects:

  • The price you actually paid for the item at checkout

  • The discount percentage at the time of your claim

If the deal page is not refreshed and the price or coupon changes, you may end up paying more than expected, which can increase your out-of-pocket cost.
